Breathing for Concentration and Self-healing Practice

Saturday, November 23 rd , 2024 (10:30am to 6:30pm)
Baan Aree, Bangkok, Thailand

In the spirit of Sangha, we meet to support and encourage each other in our practice. The Bangkok Little Sangha invite you to join us on Saturday November 23 rd , 2024 to practice mindfulness breathing in a group setting from 10:30am to 6:30pm at the beautiful Baan Aree location in Bangkok, Thailand, generously make available to us by the Baan Aree Foundation.

There is no charge for this event. However, the Little Bangkok Sangha follows the Buddhist custom of Dana (generosity). The teachings and the venue are offered as an act of generosity, and those receiving them can, if they wish, reciprocate by making donations. These go towards the teacher’s and venue’s costs. Boxes for Dana will be provided.

While no-one can do the meditation practice for you, we could learn a lot from each other by sharing experiences and techniques. During this full-day practice, Yoga and Meditation Teacher, Prema will explain the foundational elements of breathing and meditation, lead five progressive mindful breathing practices to enhance our mental concentration while maximize self-healing in
the body, and facilitate five interactive Q/A sessions for us to share our insights and ask questions related to the guided practices.

The five practice sessions are sequenced for techniques building and practical tips for everyone, from absolute beginners and experienced meditators. After each guided practice sessions, we will share the insights from our practices through an interactive Q/A format, so that we could learn from each other’s experiences.

  • 225 minutes of guided mindfulness breathing practices (5 x 45-min sessions), and
  • 150 minutes of interactive Q/A sessions where everyone share insights and ask questions related to their breathing practices (5 x 30-min sessions).

Concentration practice is the foundation for deep meditation, where the body is steady and comfortable, and the mind is relaxed and alert. The Yogic Pranayama practice is similar to the Buddhist Anapanasati practice (mindfulness of breathing), and both are preparatory steps for concentration. With the proper intentions and awareness, everyday breathing could become a simple concentration tool that soothes the mind and enhances mental clarity.

Yogic Pranayama practice is the gaining, storing and directing of vital energy (Prana) for the body and the mind, utilizing yogic breathing, visualization and mudra techniques. With even slight adjustments to the way we breathe and our postures, we could rejuvenate organ functions, improve athletic performance and boost overall energy.
